In a move to win the electrification race, Stellantis N.V. has introduced the STLA Frame platform, a cutting-edge base for full-size electric trucks and SUVs. Tailored for North American markets and beyond, the STLA Frame promises to deliver the power, durability, and range that truck and SUV owners demand—while paving the way for a zero-emission future.
Engineered with a multi-energy design, the platform supports full battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) with a range of up to 500 miles and a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) system offering up to 690 miles. With towing capacities up to 14,000 pounds and payload ratings reaching 2,700 pounds, the STLA Frame sets a new standard in capability while maintaining off-road readiness, including water fording up to 24 inches.
“This platform represents a no-compromise solution for customers seeking reliable and powerful vehicles that deliver on performance and sustainability,” said Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. “With innovations like REEV technology, we’re addressing the concerns of buyers hesitant to switch to electric, ensuring they get the range and power they need for work and family.”
Meeting Diverse Needs with Innovation
The STLA Frame is designed to power future Jeep and Ram models, offering a versatile propulsion lineup that includes BEV and REEV options, with internal combustion, hybrid, and even hydrogen compatibility planned. The REEV setup combines electric drive modules (EDMs), a battery, and an onboard generator, enabling seamless towing and hauling without sacrificing range. Unlike traditional hybrids, the engine in a REEV doesn’t directly power the wheels but instead recharges the battery and drives the EDMs.
The platform’s high-strength steel construction boosts durability while keeping weight low. It features reinforced frame rails to protect its centrally mounted battery pack, aerodynamic enhancements to improve range, and compatibility with future energy storage technologies.
Designed for Strength, Speed, and Sustainability
The STLA Frame doesn’t just promise durability—it delivers performance. Front and rear EDMs provide all-wheel-drive capabilities and propel vehicles from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The platform also accommodates advanced suspension systems, ensuring a smooth ride whether on highways or rugged terrain.
With liquid-cooled battery packs up to 200 kWh, the platform is future-ready, designed to integrate evolving technologies while providing ranges that meet demanding customer expectations.
Charging That Keeps Pace
For BEV models, STLA Frame supports 800-volt DC fast charging, adding 100 miles in just 10 minutes. REEV configurations use a 400-volt system, gaining 50 miles in the same timeframe. Its bi-directional charging feature allows the platform to power homes during outages, charge other EVs, or feed electricity back to the grid.
A Vision for the Future
As part of Stellantis’ *Dare Forward 2030* strategic plan, the STLA Frame joins the previously announced STLA Medium and STLA Large platforms to cater to a variety of electrification needs worldwide. These modular platforms offer interchangeability in battery chemistries, EDMs, and software, ensuring they remain adaptable for decades to come.
With its innovative design and focus on capability, the STLA Frame is set to be a cornerstone of Stellantis’ electric revolution, providing a robust solution for drivers seeking both power and sustainability.
