Slate Unwraps Smarties Pastel Wraps for Cheapest Electric Truck Coming

Slate Auto, the American company building what it calls America’s most affordable truck, has teamed with candy maker Smarties on a collection of six pastel-colored Starter Packs timed to Halloween. The series lets customers wrap a Slate Truck in one of six flavors: Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Grape, Pineapple, Orange or Strawberry.

The collaboration pairs the candy brand’s colorful identity with a vehicle that Slate describes as the first designed to be wrapped, so that owners can wrap and re-wrap as their tastes evolve.

Slate Designs the Truck Around Wraps

Where most vehicles arrive in a fixed paint color, Slate has built personalization into the concept. The company says its vehicles are the first designed specifically to be wrapped, and the Smarties collection is an early example of how that approach can work in practice, with the Starter Packs offering a way to change a truck’s look without a repaint.

Each of the six Starter Packs includes color-matching mirror decals, a Smarties-branded rocker decal, a branded Smarties logo decal, a Smarties key fob endcap and an interior Slatelet.

Slate and Smarties Executives Frame the Partnership Around Accessible Fun

Ben Whitla, Slate’s Head of Brand and Marketing, said the two companies share a belief that fun should be accessible to all. “The newly released Starter Packs are an incredible example of taking something we all love, like Smarties colors, and bringing them to life on an actual Slate that you can make your own,” Whitla said.

Jessica Dee Sawyer, Co-President of Smarties, tied the project to the candy brand’s long-standing identity. “Smarties has always been about small, colorful moments of fun, and Slate is bringing that same energy to the road in a way people can actually afford,” Sawyer said. She added that the company enjoys seeing the Smarties rainbow come to life beyond the candy aisle, and that the collaboration brings the spirit of Halloween along for the ride all year long.

Slate Pricing and Preorders Open the Door to the Starter Packs

Slate prices the Slate Truck at $24,950, which the company says is half the cost of the average vehicle sold in the United States. Customers can preorder a Slate for $300 and add a Smarties Starter Pack at any time. Ahead of their delivery dates, buyers will be able to purchase the Starter Packs through the Slate Marketplace.

The truck can be ordered as a pickup or as one of two SUVs, and buyers can also convert it after purchase. The release does not list a price for the Starter Packs.

About Slate and Its Factory Plans

Slate describes itself as a new American company building vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love. Established in 2022, the company was founded on a business model built around simplifying the manufacturing process and reindustrializing America. Slate says its vehicles are designed to achieve the highest safety ratings and will be assembled at a reindustrialized factory in Warsaw, Indiana. First deliveries are currently expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Smarties Brings Seven Decades of Candy Heritage to the Collaboration

Smarties Candy Company is a family-owned, women-run business based in New Jersey. Founded in 1949 by Edward Dee, the company says it produces and sells more than two billion of its candy rolls each year. The candy is manufactured around the clock at two facilities, in Union, New Jersey, and Newmarket, Ontario, and the company says it can be found almost everywhere candy is sold.
