Mazda Folds the CX-70 Into an Expanded 2027 CX-90 Lineup, Starting at $39,700

Mazda North American Operations has announced pricing for the 2027 CX-90 crossover, a model year that brings a new two-row configuration, a revised rear suspension, a quieter plug-in hybrid motor and four new exterior colors. The two-row variant will replace the CX-70 in the U.S. market, consolidating Mazda’s mid-size crossover offerings into a single nameplate.

Prices start at $39,700 for the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select and climb to $58,700 for the CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus. Those figures exclude a $1,645 destination and handling charge ($1,690 in Alaska), taxes, title and additional fees, and Mazda notes that dealers set actual sale prices.

Mazda Brings the CX-70 and CX-90 Together

The most significant structural change for 2027 is the arrival of the two-row CX-90, available on the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport and the CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport. Mazda says it is simplifying its lineup and giving customers more intuitive choices based on how they shop today by bringing the CX-90 and CX-70 together into a single, more flexible offering. The two-row configuration includes one-touch auto-down second-row seats intended to make cargo access easier.

In two- and three-row form alike, Mazda positions the CX-90 as a mid-size crossover that blends utility and cargo space with seating for up to eight, and points to the model’s IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. The company describes the 2027 CX-90 as its most versatile mid-size crossover yet.

Mazda Revises the Rear Suspension and Quiets the Plug-In Hybrid

Every 2027 CX-90 receives a revised rear suspension crossmember and updated rear suspension bushings, changes Mazda says are designed to improve passenger comfort over rough pavement. The CX-90 PHEV models gain an update to the electric drive motor, which now features external insulation material for quieter low-speed operation.

Mazda’s CX-90 3.3 Turbo Trims Climb From Select to Premium Plus

The 3.3 Turbo models are powered by the e-Skyactiv G 3.3 Turbo, a 3.3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine producing 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. The engine uses M-Hybrid Boost, a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist system aimed at greater efficiency and reduced emissions at low speed. Every CX-90 pairs its powertrain with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive, and every model carries 10 airbags and a suite of i-Activsense driver assistance features that includes Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring with Vehicle Exit Warning, Lane Departure Warning with Lane-keep Assist and Driver Attention Alert.

The entry point, the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select at $39,700, seats up to eight and comes with 19-inch silver metallic wheels, a power liftgate, a 10.25-inch center display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an eight-speaker audio system and three-zone automatic climate control. The 3.3 Turbo Preferred, at $43,850, steps up to 21-inch wheels and adds standard roof rails for 2027, along with heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch display with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging and front and rear parking sensors.

The 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport starts at $46,880 in the new two-row configuration and $48,080 in three-row form, and offers eight-passenger seating, seven-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs, or the two-row layout. It carries a blackout exterior treatment that includes black metallic 21-inch wheels, a Piano Black grille mesh and black chrome badging, and for 2027 it adds standard Alexa Built-In. The 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus, at $50,670, adds Signature lighting elements, the Adaptive Front-lighting System, Nappa leather seating in black or white, a 360° View Monitor and, new for 2027, standard Mazda Online Navigation with over-the-air updates.

Mazda Positions the Plug-In Hybrid and Turbo S at the Top of the Range

The CX-90 PHEV pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery, producing 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on the recommended 91-octane fuel. Mazda says the system can operate purely on electric power in a variety of driving scenarios, including freeway cruising, with an all-electric range of up to 27 miles. The Mi-Drive system provides Sport, Off-Road and EV modes.

The PHEV lineup begins with the Preferred at $50,695, which seats seven with a second-row bench and a two-seat third row. The Premium Sport, at $55,500, adds a head-up Active Driving Display, a Bose 12-speaker audio system and a 1,500-watt charging outlet in the cargo area, and gains standard Alexa Built-In for 2027. The Premium Plus, at $58,700, adds standard Mazda Online Navigation and Alexa Built-In for 2027, the Driver Personalization System, Nappa leather and a 360° View Monitor, along with driver monitoring technology designed to help detect driver fatigue.

The CX-90 3.3 Turbo S uses what Mazda calls the most powerful mass-production gasoline engine it has developed, producing up to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on 91-octane fuel, or 319 horsepower on 87 octane. Mi-Drive offers Sport, Off-Road and Towing modes, with a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when equipped with Mazda Genuine Towing Accessories. The Turbo S Premium Sport starts at $53,540 in two-row form and $54,740 in three-row form, while the flagship Turbo S Premium Plus, a seven-passenger model with second-row captain’s chairs, is priced at $57,970. It offers black or white Nappa leather Japanese Premium options with Maple Wood interior trim, second-row ventilated seats and a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel.

New Mazda Paint Colors Expand Personalization

Four exterior colors join the CX-90 palette for 2027: Navy Blue Mica, Aero Grey Metallic, Melting Copper Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic. Melting Copper Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic are available only on two-row models. Premium paint colors, including Aero Grey Metallic, Melting Copper Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic, carry a $595 charge.
