LA Connected Car Expo set for more connected car connections & connected city summit

connectedcarexpoThe Los Angeles Auto Show announced the board members and director of this year’s Connected Car Expo (CCE). There is a new conference director and support from people from Aeris Communications, AT&T, Ford, Google, MERA, Pandora and Strategy Analytics.

The Connected Car Expo will be held in conjunction with the LA Auto Show Press Days November 18, 19 and 20. A new feature will be the Connected City Summit, which will address how technology is transforming  transportation and safety to infrastructure in  cities.

The conference director and advisory board will be help shape the connected car and city events.

Audi A7 Self Driving Autonmous Cars Don’t Have Ugly Can on Top LiDAR on Grille

audiconnecctAt CES Audi announced that it has developed its own, much smaller LIDAR that is mounted on the Audi grille, eliminating the ugly “can” at the top look. The company showed just how intelligent and beautiful self-driving cars can be.

In a demonstration Audi used an app to “call” the car from a parking spot to the front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas.

152 Million Connected Cars in 2020 with $14.5 Billion in Revs & VERY Big Data

BiG dataRevenue from automotive data assets from integrated connected car systems will generate $14.5 billion in revenue by 2020, according to a connected car study from IHS Automotive, driven by Polk.

In Emerging Technologies: Big Data in the Connected Car, IHS Automotive predicts there will be 152 million actively connected cars on global roads by 2020 generating 11.1 petabytes of data.
