Built on Toyota’s GA‑K Platform
The 2026 Lexus RZ is built on Toyota’s GA‑K (Global Architecture‑K) platform, a modular vehicle architecture that underpins a wide range of Toyota and Lexus mid- and large-size models. GA‑K emphasizes structural rigidity, optimized weight distribution, and versatility for electrified powertrains, enabling the RZ to deliver both dynamic handling and a comfortable, stable ride. By leveraging this platform, Lexus engineers can integrate advanced battery technology, all-wheel-drive systems, and cutting-edge safety features without compromising cabin space or driving dynamics.
More Power, Greater Range, Shorter Charging Times
The newly refreshed 2026 RZ models offer drivers a combination of increased power, improved efficiency, and dynamic performance that aims to satisfy both the practical and spirited aspects of electric driving. Beyond the refined driving experience, Lexus has focused on extending vehicle range and reducing charging times, addressing two of the most important considerations for electric vehicle owners.
Expanded Charging Access via Tesla Supercharger Network
Lexus RZ drivers now have access to an expanded North American DC fast-charging infrastructure, including more than 25,000 plugs through the Tesla Supercharger Network. Owners can locate compatible chargers using the Lexus app, which now integrates seamlessly with multiple charging networks, including IONNA, ChargePoint, and EVgo.
For 2026 RZ models, Plug & Charge functionality makes the process even more intuitive. After a one-time enrollment via the Lexus app, drivers can begin charging simply by connecting their vehicle, eliminating the need for additional cards or apps. The Tesla Supercharger Network is the first Plug & Charge-enabled network for these models, with other major networks to follow, signaling a major step forward in usability for Lexus’s growing EV customer base.
Complimentary NACS Adapters for Legacy Models
Recognizing the need to bridge legacy charging systems with the new North American Charging System (NACS) plugs, Lexus will provide a complimentary adapter for all 2023–2025 RZ models. Vehicle owners will receive notification from Lexus this month, directing them to their dealer for pickup of the adapter. These adapters, built to Lexus standards, allow seamless charging at NACS stations while maintaining warranty coverage, offering flexibility and peace of mind for existing RZ owners.
In addition, all 2026 BEVs include standard adapters for SAE J1772 and Combined Charging System (CCS) stations, ensuring that drivers can access virtually any public charging infrastructure without compromise.
Apple Maps EV Routing Integration
To further support drivers, Lexus has introduced Apple Maps EV Routing via Apple CarPlay across all 2023 and newer RZ models. The feature provides intelligent route guidance that factors in vehicle performance, battery charge, elevation, and real-time conditions to optimize charging stops along a journey. With this integration, drivers can plan trips with confidence, knowing they can efficiently reach compatible chargers without unnecessary detours or delays.
Lexus Commitment to EV Owners
“From charging hardware to software-enabled tools, our goal is to prioritize the Lexus guest experience at every turn,” said Shawn Domeracki, vice president of Lexus Sales and Dealer Development. “These updates are about more than convenience—they’re about empowering our customers to enjoy the full potential of electric mobility while maintaining the reliability and quality they expect from Lexus.”
With these combined improvements, Lexus is strengthening its position in the EV market while ensuring that both new and existing RZ owners benefit from the latest in charging technology, intelligent route planning, and driving performance enhancements, all built on the advanced GA‑K platform.
