SoundHound AI & Tencent to Offer Sophisticated Conversational AI

In a strategic alliance that highlights the growing intersection between artificial intelligence and mobility, SoundHound AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOUN), a pioneer in voice-based artificial intelligence technology, has announced a collaboration with Tencent Intelligent Mobility, a division of Tencent’s expansive Cloud and Smart Industries Group. Together, the companies aim to bring sophisticated conversational AI capabilities to cloud-powered automotive solutions—paving the way for a new generation of in-car voice experiences tailored to global markets.

This partnership will see Tencent Intelligent Mobility integrate SoundHound’s flagship product, Chat AI Automotive, into its vehicle platforms. This advanced voice assistant is capable of delivering real-time, hands-free access to a broad array of in-vehicle functions and applications—from vehicle controls and navigation tools to streaming services and conversational interactions powered by large language models (LLMs).

At the core of this collaboration is a shared ambition to elevate the digital cockpit experience. The integrated system will allow drivers and passengers alike to engage naturally with their vehicles through speech alone, making requests as casual as, “What’s the best time to visit Suzhou’s classical gardens?” or as practical as, “Where’s the closest EV charging station that has a coffee shop?”

Tom Park, SoundHound’s Vice President of Business Development for Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We’re excited to be working with Tencent Intelligent Mobility to bring their vision for a dynamic, intuitive infotainment platform to life,” Park said. “Our voice AI will play a pivotal role in redefining in-car interaction, delivering seamless access to a vast spectrum of digital content—safely and intuitively.”

Unlike traditional voice systems, SoundHound’s solution is built to handle multi-layered conversational queries and context-aware follow-ups, offering responses that are not only accurate but highly relevant. Its proprietary arbitration technology acts as a safeguard, reducing the risks associated with LLM-based “hallucinations” or misinformation, which have emerged as a concern with generative AI applications.

Tencent Intelligent Mobility is equally optimistic. “We’re thrilled to explore new user experiences in the intelligent cockpit by leveraging SoundHound AI’s advanced voice assistant capabilities,” said Dr. Pei Shen, General Manager of Strategy at Tencent Intelligent Mobility. “Both companies share a vision of enabling smart, safe, and human-centric mobility.”

The partnership signals a broader trend of automakers embracing AI-powered, voice-first interfaces as consumers demand more intuitive ways to interact with technology while on the road. By offering support in more than 25 languages and partnering with major automakers around the world, SoundHound is well-positioned to lead in this space.

Further reinforcing the alliance, SoundHound will participate in Tencent’s 2025 TIME DAY—Tencent Intelligent Mobility Ecosystem Day—on April 22, 2025. During the event, Tom Park will appear on the “Globalization Deep-dive” Sub-forum panel to share insights on the role of local ecosystems in driving worldwide expansion.

Park is also slated to deliver a keynote at the forum titled “Navigating the AI Frontier: Opportunities and Challenges for the Automotive Industry in the AI Era.” His session, “Voice AI Empowering Intelligent Mobility: How Voice AI Can Enhance Mobility Services and the User Experience,” will take place on April 23, from 3:45 to 3:55 p.m., co-hosted by the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Shanghai) and Tencent Cloud.

In a world where drivers increasingly expect their vehicles to operate more like intelligent companions than mere machines, SoundHound and Tencent’s new collaboration could represent a significant leap forward—delivering a connected, conversational experience that feels as natural as speaking to a friend.
