Kia America debuted new concept vehicles at the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, bringing innovative design and sustainable solutions to the forefront. Created by Kia Design Center America (KDCA), these concepts blend adaptability, capability, and eco-consciousness for the next generation of automotive design.
SEMA, known for showcasing everything from custom accessories to cutting-edge concept cars, highlights advancements in performance, styling, and safety. It’s a mecca for automotive enthusiasts, celebrating all aspects of car culture, from technical upgrades to design creativity.
This year, Kia’s KDCA team from Irvine, CA, unveiled two custom lifestyle concepts with a strong outdoor focus: the EV9 ADVNTR Concept EV SUV and the PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van.
EV9 ADVNTR Concept EV SUV
This 3-row all-electric SUV is engineered for rugged escapades. Featuring a lifted suspension, custom tires, and reinforced panels, the EV9 ADVNTR is Kia’s vision of an adventure-ready SUV. A roof rack designed for everything from camping tents to storage containers turns the vehicle into a versatile outdoor base.
PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van
The PV5 WKNDR is a flexible, adventure van built for weekend getaways. With off-road tires and an adaptable modular interior, this van is like a Swiss Army Knife on wheels. Its unique “Gear Head” storage allows easy access to outdoor equipment, and solar panels provide eco-friendly power, making it perfect for off-grid travel.
Kia also showcased active lifestyle products and organized gear solutions designed to streamline the camping experience, helping adventurers focus more on fun and less on setup.
In addition to the main concepts, Kia introduced three custom SUV models, each themed around figures from Greek mythology:
Sportage | THETIS Goddess of Water**: Built with a whitewater-themed wrap, custom wheels, and a kayak mount, this Sportage is ideal for river adventures.
Telluride | ZEUS God of The Sky & Thunder: With mountain graphics, a thunderous exhaust, and rugged tires, this Telluride is built for off-road resilience and power.
*Sorento | GAIA Goddess of Earth: Designed for nature enthusiasts, the Sorento GAIA features an awning, outdoor projector, and perimeter lighting for serene nights under the stars.
“Kia’s utility vehicles are known for versatility and adaptability,” said Steven Center, COO of Kia America. “With these concepts, we’re pushing those attributes further, offering a preview of our future automotive innovation.”
At SEMA, Kia continues to inspire the future of adventure and sustainability on the road.
