Kia America has announced pricing for the 2027 Sorento Hybrid, a model-year update that centers on a new appearance-focused trim, a newly standard head-up display on the top version and a modest increase in entry price. The Sorento HEV starts at $39,090 before Kia’s $1,495 destination charge, which puts the lowest delivered price at $40,585.
The changes are largely additive. Kia’s announcement lists a new EX X-Line trim, standard head-up display on all SX-Prestige models, a new Pale Gray paint color that replaces Steel Gray, and HEV emblems on the tailgate. The announcement does not list changes to the hybrid powertrain.
Four Trims, From Front-Wheel Drive to Fully Loaded
The lineup opens with the Sorento HEV EX in front-wheel drive at $39,090. The EX with all-wheel drive follows at $40,890, a step of $1,800. The new X-Line EX AWD is priced at $43,090, and the X-Line SX-Prestige AWD, the range-topping version, carries an MSRP of $47,590. With destination, those prices come to $42,385, $44,585 and $49,085 respectively for the three all-wheel-drive models.
Dealer listings for the outgoing model year placed the 2026 Sorento Hybrid EX at $38,890 in front-wheel drive and $40,690 in all-wheel drive, which indicates a $200 increase on both EX variants for 2027. A similar $200 increase applied to the base gasoline Sorento LX, which opens that lineup at $32,590 before destination, according to AutoGuide.
What the X-Line Adds
The EX X-Line pairs the content of the standard EX with gloss-black wheels and gloss-black exterior accents, a visual treatment Kia describes as blackout design elements. All X-Line trims receive machined wood inlays on the instrument panel and doors.
Moving up to the X-Line SX-Prestige adds a panoramic sunroof, Bose premium audio and second-row captain’s chairs. The head-up display, which projects driving information into the driver’s line of sight, is now standard on that trim.
On the gasoline Sorento, X-Line trims sit alongside the off-road-themed X-Pro, and the X-Line EX with the turbocharged engine is priced at $42,990 before destination, according to AutoGuide. That leaves the hybrid X-Line EX AWD, at $43,090, priced $100 above its gasoline counterpart.
The Powertrain Beneath
For the 2026 model year, the Sorento Hybrid used a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, for a combined 227 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, according to Kelley Blue Book. The system uses a 1.0-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion polymer battery, which Kia backs with a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, according to a dealer specification sheet. Fuel economy for 2026 was rated at 37 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 34 mpg combined with all-wheel drive, against 26 mpg combined for the gasoline Sorento. Kia’s 2027 announcement directs readers to its media site for current specifications, including fuel economy.
Kia has said the front-wheel-drive Sorento Hybrid has the best fuel economy among three-row hybrid SUVs, and that the all-wheel-drive version leads among compact three-row SUVs, according to a road test published by Clean Fleet Report. The same review noted that the Sorento sits between Kia’s compact Sportage and its larger Telluride in size.
Where the Sorento Fits
Cars.com places the Sorento in a middle ground between compact crossovers such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Kia’s own Sportage, and larger three-row SUVs such as the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride and Chevrolet Traverse. The Sorento’s corporate cousin, the Hyundai Santa Fe, occupies similar territory.
One detail in Kia’s announcement bears on how the model is built. In a footnote, Kia lists the gasoline Sorento, excluding hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, among the models assembled in the United States from U.S. and globally sourced parts. The Sorento HEV and PHEV are therefore not part of that group.
Kia’s Broader Position
Kia describes itself as a company that continues to top automotive quality surveys and says TIME named it one of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2026. The automaker is the official automotive partner of the NBA and WNBA and sells gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles through a network of nearly 800 U.S. dealers. AutoGuide reported earlier that pricing for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid Sorento would follow the gasoline models, which were expected to reach dealerships in the weeks after their announcement.
Pricing excludes the $1,495 destination charge, and Kia directs media to kiamedia.com for photography, full specifications and features and options for the 2027 Sorento HEV.
