Today starts of National Tire Safety Week, which runs through May 28. Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone) announced the relaunch of TireSafety.com, a consumer website dedicated to providing drivers with important tire and driving safety information. (USTMA). Cooper Tire & Rubber Company will “Tread Wisely” through a social media campaign.
Tread Wisely
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company is marking the occasion by kicking off a new relationship between the company’s Tread Wisely tire safety program for young drivers and DoSomething.org.
The largest not-for-profit organization exclusively for young people and social change, DoSomething is a digital platform that annually activates 6 million young people to create positive offline impact in every U.S. area code and across 131 countries.
Tread Wisely is a tire and vehicle safety campaign for teens and young adults sponsored by Cooper. The initiative includes two components—employee activation at Cooper facilities worldwide, which enlists volunteers to conduct tire safety events and demonstrations in their communities, and a public outreach campaign that brings tire safety information to young drivers through social media, in-person youth events and through a Tread Wisely app, available for download from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
The collaboration between Cooper’s Tread Wisely program and DoSomething begins this week with a social media outreach campaign to help inform and inspire DoSomething members to be aware of their vehicles’ tires and take action to check the condition of their tires monthly, especially now, at the start of the summer driving season.
Later this summer, Cooper’s Tread Wisely initiative and DoSomething will team up to conduct a national youth activation effort, which will call on young drivers to take specific actions to support tire safety with an emphasis on sharing information with their friends and families.
Tire Safey
Bridgestone’s TireSafety.com is updated to include new content features and a more dynamic user experience. TireSafety.com provides information and tips to ensure tires are road ready. From easy steps for checking tire pressure and tread depth to information about how to choose the right tire, TireSafety.com is a great resource for drivers hitting the road for the Memorial Day holiday weekend or for families preparing for a road trip later this summer. The site will be updated regularly to offer seasonal tire and driving information, to serve as an important year-round resource for the driving public.
A refreshed TireSafety.com and leadership in the National Tire Safety Week program align with the company’s Our Way to Serve commitment to contribute to a safer society and build safer communities by helping to educate drivers about the important role tires play in driving safety. To advance these efforts and reach a wider audience of consumers, Bridgestone also is working with its Team Bridgestone Olympic and Paralympic athlete ambassadors, as well as several Verizon IndyCar® Series drivers, to share important tire safety information this week via their social media handles. Bridgestone is a Worldwide Olympic Partner and the company’s Firestone brand is the sole tire supplier of the Verizon IndyCar® Series.
Drivers who would like to have their tires and vehicles checked ahead of summer are invited to visit any Bridgestone Retail Operations store – Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus and WheelWorks – for a free tire pressure check and tread assessment. Tire assessments and pressure checks are provided courtesy of all Bridgestone retail store employees every day of operation.
In addition to the company’s focus on educating drivers of passenger vehicles on the importance of tire safety, Bridgestone urges commercial truck drivers and fleet managers to proactively maintain their tires ahead of their busiest hauling months. Visit one of the company’s GCR Tires & Service store locations for a free tread assessment.
National Tire Safety Week is an annual program of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), of which Cooper is a member. This year’s National Tire Safety Week effort, dubbed “Know Your Roll,” will educate consumers about proper tire care and maintenance, including potential concerns with unsafe used tires
