The new 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is on the path of new connected car features with a range of enhanced “family adventure-ready” connectivity and infotainment systems.
Standard on all 2017 Pathfinder grade levels is an updated next-gen infotainment system with an 8.0-inch color touch screen monitor, which replaces the previous 7.0-inch design, and improved HMI (Human Machine Interface) graphics. It provides a smartphone-like approach on the screen, but also offers the choice of “hard button” controls for drivers who prefer them.
Mounted in the middle of the instrument panel, the touch screen provides intuitive interaction and control of a variety of driver-selectable vehicle systems and settings – including the vehicle’s standard SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth.
Included as part of the standard NissanConnect system is SiriusXM Travel Link with three years of complimentary service. Travel Link provides 24/7 access to sports scores, movie listings, stock prices, gas prices, weather and other information.
In addition, the standard Advanced Drive-Assist Display (ADAD), located in the center of the instrument display between the tachometer and speedometer, features additional infotainment and driver assistance displays (versus the 2016 Pathfinder design). Voice recognition for audio, Bluetooth and vehicle information has been enhanced with a new HD microphone for improved voice clarity. HD Radio has also been added as a standard feature.
Standard on Pathfinder Platinum and optional on SV and SL grades is a new NissanConnect Navigation system, which includes Voice Recognition for navigation and one-shot voice destination entry. Three years of no-charge SiriusXM Traffic is provided with NissanConnect Navigation.
Also new for 2017 is the available NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM, one of the most feature-rich connected service programs available, with a robust suite of security features – including a “SOS” emergency call button in the overhead console.
Available services include automatic collision notification, emergency call and stolen vehicle locator, maintenance alerts and dealer service. Remote Access is another key feature, with help accessible through a compatible computer or smartphone. Services include remote door lock and unlock, remote engine start** and remote horn and flashing lights to help find the Pathfinder in a garage or parking lot.
NissanConnect Services also provides enhanced Internet Navigation searches. Navigation search options include assisted search (live agent), connected search, destination download, journey planner, send-to-car, and navigation search (points of interest).
The system also offers customizable alerts via email, text message or automated phone call. Alerts include vehicle speed, curfew alert (with available notification to the driver 20 minutes before the curfew alert), valet alerts (more than two miles from drop-off) and geographical boundaries setting.
NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM comes standard on Platinum grade and is optional on SV and SL grades.
The Family Entertainment Package, which is optional on Pathfinder Platinum models, adds a new HDMI input and USB port and new dual QHD 8.0-inch headrest monitors (previously 7.0-inch WGVA). The DVD-based system also includes rear seat wireless headphones, wireless remote control, rear headphone jacks with volume control and VTR jack.
