Lectron Launches Nexus Line of Level 2 Residential EV Chargers

Lectron has introduced the Nexus platform, a new portfolio of wall-mounted Level 2 residential electric vehicle chargers engineered using automotive OEM validation protocols. The line offers four distinct configurations spanning SAE J3400 (NACS) and J1772 standards, available in either a 48-amp hardwired layout delivering up to 11.5 kW or a 40-amp NEMA 14-50 plug-in variant supplying 9.6 kW. Designed for high-duty daily thermal and electrical cycles, the chargers provide replenishment rates of up to 46 and 38 miles of range per hour, respectively.

Built with automotive-grade power delivery architecture and PCBA layouts, the Nexus platform utilizes IP66-rated weatherproof enclosures housing 23-foot 7 AWG cabling. Hardware compliance includes UL 2594, UL 2231, UL 2251, and UL 817 certifications. Lectron validated thermal cycling durability from -22°F to 122°F alongside continuous load testing at full rated amperage and connector insertion endurance exceeding 10,000 cycles.

Mitsubishi Details Dual-Port Charging Architecture for 2027 Eclipse Sportback BEV

Mitsubishi Motors North America has released technical charging protocols for the 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV ahead of its planned North American rollout in autumn 2026. Developed via the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and leveraging Nissan’s next-generation subcompact electric platform, the BEV integrates a standard 75 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack designed for active thermal management, range efficiency, and extended cell longevity.

The vehicle utilizes a dual-port charging interface separating alternating-current and direct-current inputs. Direct-current fast charging is handled natively via an SAE North American Charging System interface, providing direct access to NACS network infrastructure at peak rates up to 150 kW. This enables a 10 percent to 80 percent state-of-charge cycle in approximately 35 minutes. Primary Level 1 and Level 2 AC power delivery relies on a secondary SAE J1772 connector.

The subcompact crossover represents the initial BEV deployment under the brand’s Momentum 2030 strategic plan, which targets electrified lineup expansion, modernized dealer retail operations, and sales growth across North America. The model will precede an additional rugged, off-road Outlander derivative slated for release in early 2027.

Walmart Expands Proprietary Fast-Charging Infrastructure Across U.S. Retail Footprint

Walmart Inc. is accelerating the deployment of its proprietary electric vehicle charging network, transitioning from third-party host partnerships to an in-house branded model across its retail locations. Through mid-2026, the retailer established 46 high-speed charging stations incorporating 380 individual ports, bringing total charger availability to approximately 326 of its 4,600 domestic stores. An estimated 300 additional locations are currently under construction, positioning the company as a rapidly scaling direct-operated charging network provider trailing only Tesla in second-quarter infrastructure expansion.

The strategy leverages store footprint accessibility, where ninety percent of the domestic population resides within ten miles of a facility, to capture charging dwell-time traffic and stimulate adjacent retail revenue. By operating native direct-current fast-charging equipment at competitive utility rates, the network targets plug-in electric vehicle drivers, particularly those without residential Level 2 charging access. The infrastructure expansion aims to build out public power delivery capabilities across underserved regional corridors while enhancing core store utilization metrics.
