Apple iOS 8.1 4 iPhone 5-6+ could fix Bluetooth issue with hands-free devices/cars

iOS81buetoothfixiOS 8 has been plagued with Bluetooth bugs connecting to in-car infotainment systems.The manifest of features for iOS update shows a Bluetooth fix which hopefully will help our readers who have tried everything from complaining to Apple to “nuking” their phones to get Bluetooth work. Almost every car maker was affected including BMW, Audi, GM(Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Buick), Mercedes-Benz, VW, Mazda, Lexus, Fiat, Hyundai and more.

Cadillac changes lanes, splits with GM moves to NY

cadillacconnectivityGM has “realigned” Cadillac making it a separate business unit.  The new Cadillac will have new global headquarters in New York in 2105.

This is one of the many changes from new president Johan de Nysschen who came to Cadillac, last month from the Infiniti division of Nissan. Before that, he helped Volkswagen make Audi a top luxury brand.

Cadillac takes wireless charging cue with Powermat in emblematic move

ccadillacwirelessGM announced that Cadillac will add wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model ATS sport sedan and coupe launching this fall. The wireless charging will be compatible with Powermat and other in-phone wireless charging technologies, therefore  once inside the car, you place the smartphone on the mat and you don’t have to connect a cord to charge it.

Because people keep their smartphones with them all day and Bluetooth uses a lot of battery juice, wireless charging in cars is an ideal solution.

GM Chevy OnStar open AppShop closed for remodeling

mylink-overview-connect-cnt-well-1-980x316-01At CES, GM and OnStar announced OnStar AppShop for  Chevy vehicles with the ability to book hotels on Priceline.  Chevy cars and trucks were expected to have AT&T 4G LTE by the summer, with Kaliki audio news stand.  At SXSW, the company announced Beats Music streaming would be in the Chevy AppShop while giving free rides around the festival.  However, there is a delay and the open OnStar AppShop is closed for 2015 GM car models.

Apparently, there were “quality issues” for the apps  and the AppShop will be delayed to insure  a great user experience.
