AutoMobility LA, the trade and media gathering that kicks off the Los Angeles Auto Show, is putting the spotlight on the commercial side of mobility this fall. Organizers announced Thursday that the 2025 edition will expand its Fleet Innovation Showcase with a keynote address from Voltera, a company specializing in electric and autonomous vehicle charging infrastructure.
The program will take place Nov. 20 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, marking a continued evolution for an event that has increasingly moved beyond traditional car launches to include technology, infrastructure and commercial fleet solutions.
“Fleets are at the center of the transition to zero-emission mobility and advanced digital solutions,” said Terri Toennies, president and chief operating officer of the LA Auto Show and AutoMobility LA. “By evolving our showcase, AutoMobility LA offers manufacturers, technology companies and service providers an unparalleled opportunity to debut their latest innovations and connect with decision-makers shaping commercial transportation.”
Fleet Innovation Takes Center Stage
Last year’s showcase introduced a dedicated program for fleet operators and industry insiders to see the technologies reshaping commercial transportation. For 2025, organizers say the scope will be wider, spanning electrification, hydrogen, digital fleet services, micromobility and the infrastructure needed to support large-scale adoption.
Companies slated to participate include Rivian, GM Envolve, Volkswagen, Honda, and Lithia — the latter representing both Ford Pro and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. More participants are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The program is designed to connect automakers and suppliers with fleet managers, policymakers and journalists. For the first time, the NAFA Fleet Management Association will hold its regional meeting as part of the main-stage agenda. NAFA represents the largest network of fleet professionals in North America.
“The intersection of fleet innovation and real-world fleet management is critical,” said Bill Shankel, chief executive of NAFA. “By aligning our regional meeting with AutoMobility LA’s Fleet Innovation Showcase, we’re ensuring that our members gain access to the technologies, insights and partnerships that will shape the industry’s next decade.”
Voltera Keynote to Address Charging Challenges
Voltera, the keynote presenter, develops and operates high-capacity charging hubs designed for commercial fleets. The company, backed by private equity firm EQT, focuses on solving three core challenges that have slowed fleet electrification: land acquisition, access to power and the capital required to build charging networks at scale.
“We’re proud to sponsor the Fleet Keynote at AutoMobility LA and bring our industry-leading expertise in charging infrastructure to the conversation,” said Jonathan Colbert, Voltera’s vice president of marketing and business development. “At Voltera, we’re building the infrastructure that enables fleets to meet the moment.”
The keynote is expected to outline how charging infrastructure can keep pace with rising demand from delivery companies, government agencies and private fleet operators looking to electrify their vehicles over the next decade.
What to Expect From Participants
Several automakers and mobility companies will use the showcase to highlight new or evolving fleet strategies:
- Rivian plans to showcase its next-generation electric vans and business services aimed at commercial operations.
- Honda will bring its 2025 CR-V e:FCEV, the first production plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle in the United States, along with a Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell truck concept.
- Fastport will debut the first U.S. public ride experience of its all-electric eQuad prototype, designed for last-mile deliveries in bike lanes and supported by its fleet-as-a-service platform.
- GM Envolve will highlight its integrated platform that spans electric, fuel-cell, telematics and service offerings.
- Volkswagen will showcase the ID. Buzz as a versatile fleet option aimed at cleaner, more flexible urban mobility.
- Lithia, representing Ford Pro and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, will highlight connected vehicle solutions, dealer-based commercial services and workforce-focused programs for Southern California businesses.
Additional companies are expected to join as the event approaches.
A Broader Role for the LA Auto Show
AutoMobility LA serves as the press and industry day for the Los Angeles Auto Show, one of the nation’s largest and longest-running automotive events. In recent years, the gathering has become a venue not just for unveiling new cars, but for discussing how transportation in California and beyond is changing — from electrification mandates to the rise of autonomous delivery fleets.
Southern California, with its dense logistics networks, large urban centers and ambitious clean transportation policies, has become a proving ground for many of the technologies the showcase will feature. The state’s Advanced Clean Fleet rule, which begins phasing in next year, requires fleet operators to transition to zero-emission vehicles over the next two decades.
Registration and Access
Registration for AutoMobility LA 2025 is now open. Media members can attend at no cost with accreditation, while industry professionals can register for $149 through Oct. 15. Standard registration, beginning Oct. 16, will cost $249. All attendees must pre-register online at automobilityla.com.
The event typically attracts a mix of automakers, technology suppliers, policymakers and investors, alongside journalists covering the intersection of transportation, energy and innovation.
A Look Ahead
The Fleet Innovation Showcase is emerging as a key feature of AutoMobility LA as automakers look to secure their place in the fast-evolving commercial mobility market. Delivery fleets, government agencies and service companies represent one of the fastest-growing sectors for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, with California at the forefront of deployment.
By drawing in companies such as Voltera and Rivian, and aligning with fleet management organizations like NAFA, the Los Angeles Auto Show is positioning itself as a place where deals are made, strategies are launched and the future of fleet mobility comes into focus.
The full AutoMobility LA program is expected to include additional panels, demonstrations and vehicle debuts in the weeks leading up to the Nov. 20 event.
