Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID), the company that its reputation on producing some of the most advanced electric vehicles in the world, revealed its latest creation during Monterey Car Week: the Lucid Gravity X, a concept SUV intended to reimagine what a trail-ready electric adventure vehicle could be. The unveiling took place on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links at a private event, with the concept has it first public showing on the Concept Lawn of the 74th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 17.
The Gravity X concept had been based on the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, but its purpose went beyond luxury highway travel. Lucid’s design team envisioned it as a machine equally comfortable on the road to Big Sur as it would be climbing rocky trails in the Sierra Nevada. “Lucid Gravity redefined the limits of what an uncompromising SUV could achieve,” said Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand. “The Gravity X concept expanded on these core principles to explore new possibilities off the beaten path, while showcasing the incredible capabilities of the Lucid Gravity. Lucid’s range, power, and versatility made it an ideal vehicle for adventurers eager to explore further off-road.”
Visually, the Gravity X embodied a mix of refinement and rugged capability. Engineers and designers reworked the front and rear fascias to improve approach and departure angles—an important detail for any vehicle expected to leave pavement behind. A wider track, lifted ride height, and custom all-terrain wheels provided extra ground clearance and stability, while protective skid plates and tow hooks enhanced its functional side. Despite these trail-focused upgrades, the sleek silhouette retained Lucid’s commitment to aerodynamics, a trait that had long been a hallmark of the company’s EV lineup.
Styling cues gave the Gravity X its own distinct presence. A rugged satin finish dubbed Astral Drift coated the body, offset by bold orange accents and Lucid’s Stealth Appearance trim. Brushed metal finished the front and rear fascias, lending a tactile edge to the otherwise clean lines. The result was a vehicle that looked as comfortable parked among concours classics as it might have appeared perched on the edge of a desert bluff.
Lucid also added storytelling details that connected the concept directly to California’s landscapes and the event at which it debuted. Topography maps of Big Sur and Death Valley were etched into recesses on the hood, serving as reminders of the diverse terrain the Gravity X had been designed to conquer. The sill plates and rocker trim bore coordinates pointing back to Pebble Beach, marking the SUV’s world debut at the 74th Concours d’Elegance.
For longtime Pebble Beach attendees, the Gravity X represents something different: a forward-looking statement from a relatively young automaker, one blending the luxury expected of Lucid with a sense of rugged adventure.
