Android Auto for Lucid AIR with Over-the-Air Update

Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID), the luxury electric vehicle manufacturer known for pushing the boundaries of innovation, has officially launched Android Auto integration across all Lucid Air models. The new feature arrives via an over-the-air (OTA) software update—Lucid OS 2.7.0—bringing the Android Auto Smart Driving Companion App to owners of the acclaimed Lucid Air. This long-awaited update adds another layer of connectivity and convenience to Lucid’s advanced EV platform, allowing users to access their favorite Android smartphone apps seamlessly from the vehicle’s expansive infotainment system.

With this rollout, all Lucid Air drivers can now connect their Android smartphones to the car’s cutting-edge 34-inch Glass Cockpit display. Once connected, drivers can view and control essential apps—such as Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, YouTube Music, Audible, WhatsApp, and more—directly from the central interface. The integration is designed to minimize distractions while driving, offering a smarter and safer way to navigate, communicate, and enjoy entertainment on the road.

Lucid owners have the option to connect their Android devices using either a USB cable or wirelessly, depending on their phone’s operating system. Android Auto wireless connectivity is available for devices running Android 11 or higher, while users with Android 9.0 or 10.0 can access the feature using a compatible USB cable. In both cases, an active data plan is required for full functionality.

“Android Auto has consistently been one of the most requested features from our customers,” said Dr. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Head of Software Engineering at Lucid Group. “We are thrilled to deliver this capability to Lucid Air owners with our latest OTA update. Our integration with Android Auto—optimized for the ultra-wide Glass Cockpit display—underscores our commitment to comfort, convenience, and an uncompromised driving experience.”

The Android Auto interface is seamlessly adapted to Lucid’s distinct digital architecture. The 34-inch Glass Cockpit, which wraps around the driver, offers ample screen real estate to display navigation, music, messages, and notifications in a way that is both intuitive and immersive. The touch interface has been optimized to maintain responsiveness, while voice commands via Google Assistant enable drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Lucid’s Android Auto rollout marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to elevate in-vehicle digital experiences. It complements existing smart integration features such as Apple CarPlay, native navigation, and embedded apps that are part of the Lucid OS ecosystem. The OTA delivery system ensures that every Lucid Air—from early adopters to recent buyers—receives the update without needing a dealership visit, maintaining Lucid’s reputation for seamless technology upgrades.

To get started with Android Auto in a Lucid Air, users should ensure their Android phone is running version 9.0 or higher. Wireless functionality requires Android 11 or later. Setup involves pairing the phone with the vehicle either via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi or with a USB cable, depending on the phone’s compatibility. Lucid has published a detailed step-by-step guide in its Knowledge Center to assist users with the setup process.

Looking ahead, Lucid confirmed that Android Auto integration will also be available for the upcoming Lucid Gravity, the brand’s highly anticipated electric SUV. While no official release date has been shared, Lucid noted that Android Auto functionality for Gravity will be included in a future update as the vehicle nears production.
