Toyota unveiled the 2026 C-HR Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), marking a bold entry into the compact crossover segment. This all-electric model, previously exclusive to European markets, is set to arrive in the United States next year, offering a blend of performance, style, and advanced technology.
Performance and Powertrain
The 2026 C-HR BEV is built on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA platform, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers a combined output of 338 horsepower. This setup enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately five seconds, positioning it among the more spirited options in its class. The vehicle is equipped with a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an estimated range of up to 290 miles under U.S. EPA testing standards.
Charging Capabilities
Charging infrastructure compatibility is a key feature of the new C-HR. The vehicle includes a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to a vast network of DC fast-charging stations, including Tesla Superchargers. Under optimal conditions, the C-HR can recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, offering flexibility for various charging scenarios.
Design and Interior
The C-HR BEV maintains a coupe-like silhouette, characterized by flowing body lines and a distinctive hammerhead front design. The interior is designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind, featuring a spacious cabin with generous headroom and up to 25.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Standard interior amenities include a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital gauge cluster, dual wireless smartphone chargers, and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of safety features.
Trim Levels and Features
The vehicle will be available in SE and XSE grades. The SE trim includes 18-inch wheels, fabric and SofTex-trimmed seating, and heated front seats. The XSE grade enhances the offering with 20-inch gunmetal-finished wheels, SofTex and synthetic suede-trimmed seats, an 8-way power passenger seat, and additional driver assistance features such as Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist.
Technology and Connectivity
Toyota’s latest infotainment system, developed by its Texas-based Connected Technologies team, powers the C-HR’s 14-inch touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, and voice-activated controls. A Wi-Fi Connect trial provides 4G connectivity for up to five devices, transforming the C-HR into a mobile hotspot. Additional features include a JBL Premium Audio system and integrated streaming capabilities for Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety remains a priority with the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, encompassing features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and more.
