What DeLorean Revealed at Pebble Beach—Alpha5, 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail and 2040 Omega

T he new Delorean Motor company revealed the Alpha5 Launch Edition and two concepts at Pebble Beach, Concours d’ Elegance.

“I think today is a celebration for us this important milestone vehicle for celebration for testing, as well as we went back forty years, together with our partners and tried to understand the brand would have developed. And today is the culmination of the journey of over forty years of analysis,” said Joost DeVries, CEO of Delorean.

He commented at the the reveal “So right now, what you’re seeing here is the work of suppliers, designers partners, a team in San Antonio, Texas, and some remote members of the team that work amazingly hard to bring to life a vision of the future of a new energy mobility brand–that brings more than just efficiency, emotion, human connectivity. It is, it is just stunning. Absolutely stunning.”

The company introduced Delorean Sense is a connected band that is worn by friends or family member that allows them hugs to be delivered to you via power seat bolsters.

The Alpha5 has classic louvers, and DeLorean’s iconic gull-wing doors. Estimated specifications include a range of 300+ miles, a battery of 100+kWh, and electronically limited top speeds of 155 mph. The cockpit display can be changed to look like the original display in the first Delorean.

The Alpha5 was designed Italdesign.

Plus they displayed interim design models. The 1996 Alpha2 roadster, the 2006 Alpha3 electric concept and the Alpha4 fuel cell concept.The interim designs were completed by Italdesign.

On August 20, the company re-imagined the future with the reveal of two new concept vehicles. The 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail is an extension of the original coupe. The 2040 Omega represents the next generation in the company’s design philosophy with roots in baja-themed off-road racing.

 

The Alpha5 is expected to go on sale 2024 and no pricing  is available. Potential buyers are asked to sign up for a newsletter on the new Delorean website.
