SEMA Round-up: Toyota, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, Mopar, Hyundai, Tires & FutureTech

As the aftermarket world descends on Las Vegas for the 2025 SEMA Show, the stage is set for high-drama vehicle builds, performance parts unveilings, and bold concept statements. From reimagined classics to next-generation shop tools, this year’s previews show a strong focus on performance, customization, retro revival, and product innovation. Below are some of the most talked-about vehicles and product launches announced in the lead-up to the show.

Toyota Turbo Trail Cruiser

Toyota made waves with the “Turbo Trail Cruiser,” a striking build based on the legendary FJ60 Land Cruiser. The project merges the classic 1980s and ’90s styling of the FJ60 with modern performance components, including a twin-turbo i-FORCE 3.4-liter V6 engine sourced from Toyota’s Tundra, producing 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The concept retains the original character while adding a modern powertrain, upgraded suspension, a mild lift, 35-inch tires, and vintage-inspired paintwork. The Turbo Trail Cruiser embodies the growing trend of factory resto-mods that honor heritage while integrating contemporary capability.

Infiniti QX80 R-Spec Concept

Infiniti is showcasing the QX80 R-Spec Concept, a full-size SUV that redefines performance luxury. The build features a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 borrowed from the Nissan GT-R, tuned to deliver around 1,000 horsepower. Additional upgrades include enhanced cooling systems, carbon-ceramic brakes, a widebody kit, and 24-inch wheels wrapped in wide performance tires. Finished in a deep, color-shifting purple wrap, the R-Spec is both a technical and visual statement. While not slated for production in its current form, it hints that Infiniti may explore a high-performance SUV lineup.

Nissan’s Dune Patrol Concept

Nissan’s Dune Patrol Concept offers an aggressive off-road interpretation of the Armada SUV, reflecting the Patrol’s global reputation for durability. The concept features NISMO Off-Road AXIS beadlock wheels, 37-inch Yokohama Geolander MT tires, Bilstein suspension, reinforced drivetrain components, widebody fenders, high-clearance bumpers, onboard air, and a roof rack packed with survival gear. Though it’s unlikely to enter production, the Dune Patrol signals Nissan’s focus on rugged, adventure-ready models and its commitment to expanding its off-road accessories portfolio.

Motorsports’ Honda

Honda is presenting an entire lineup of performance and motorsport-inspired builds. The Civic Type R HRC Rally XP, developed with the Rally Ready Driving School and Honda Racing Corporation, is designed for 2WD rally competition with upgraded suspension, cooling, and braking systems. Honda also unveiled the Integra Type S HRC Prototype, optimized for aerodynamics and lightweight performance. The automaker’s off-road credentials are represented by the twin-turbo V6-powered Passport Race Truck, a proven competitor in the Baja 500, and the TrailSport HRC Concept built for overlanding. Together, these vehicles reinforce Honda’s racing and performance ethos across its product range.

Mopar Dude & SIXPACK

Mopar returns to SEMA with two bold concepts: the “Dude” Ram 1500 and the Moparized Dodge SIXPACK Charger. The “Dude,” based on a Ram 1500 Big Horn, comes in eye-catching Sublime Green with retro C-stripes, a lowered stance, 22×10-inch wheels, side-exit exhausts, and a 395-hp 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with a Mopar cold-air intake. The SIXPACK Charger concept channels modern Mopar engineering through classic muscle-car cues, offering a glimpse into how Dodge might reinterpret heritage performance in the electrified era. Both builds demonstrate Mopar’s deep roots in the customization scene and its ongoing influence in the performance aftermarket.

IONIQ 9 BigTime

At the 2025 SEMA Show, Hyundai is turning heads with the debut of its IONIQ 9 BigTime off-road concept, an all-electric SUV that blends rugged capability with futuristic design. Developed in collaboration with automotive content creators Jeremiah Burton and Zach Jobe of BigTime, the concept reimagines Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV for adventure enthusiasts. Featuring a lifted suspension, custom wheels, aggressive all-terrain tires, and an auxiliary light bar, the IONIQ 9 showcases how electrification and off-road performance can coexist. Drawing inspiration from BigTime’s vintage 1977 cabover truck “Bud,” the concept combines retro styling cues with cutting-edge EV technology. Displayed in the SEMA Future Tech Studio, the IONIQ 9 BigTime concept underscores Hyundai’s commitment to innovation, personalization, and the growing culture of electric vehicle customization—proving that EVs can be just as bold, fun, and functional as their gasoline predecessors.

Significant Tires

Beyond the vehicle debuts, SEMA 2025 also highlights several significant product launches. Cosmo Tires introduced three new lines: GripIt XT, a rugged all-terrain; Kurrent, a premium touring tire with EV-ready load ratings; and RoadHunter, an all-season for CUVs and SUVs. SATA USA celebrated its 100th anniversary with the Jet X 100 Years Edition spray gun, featuring advanced nozzle technology for superior atomization, along with special editions of the Minijet 4400 B and Jet 100 B. Old Air Products launched the HS2 climate-control system for 1967–68 Chevrolet Camaros, offering plug-and-play installation and improved airflow control. These products underscore SEMA’s wide scope — it’s as much about innovative aftermarket tools and systems as it is about headline-grabbing vehicles.

FutureTech

In the FutureTech Studio, emerging companies and established leaders alike will demonstrate breakthroughs shaping the future of performance and sustainability. Among the highlights, Glīd Technologies will showcase Rāden—the world’s first autonomous hybrid-electric road-to-rail vehicle—demonstrating how AI-driven logistics and electrification are transforming freight mobility. Visitors can also explore advancements in solid-state batteries, wireless charging, and autonomous systems from innovators such as Electreon, Solid Power, and BorgWarner. Together, these exhibits underscore how SEMA continues to evolve beyond traditional performance culture, celebrating not just horsepower but the technologies defining the next generation of automotive excellence.

Overall, this year’s SEMA reveals emphasize several key themes: the revival of heritage vehicles infused with modern technology, the evolution of luxury SUVs into performance machines, and the expansion of off-road capability across mainstream models. Combined with the ongoing innovation in aftermarket parts and equipment, SEMA 2025 reinforces its status as the ultimate showcase of automotive passion, craftsmanship, and creativity.
