Bollinger Motors announced today that it has officially emerged from receivership, following a legal settlement with its founder, Robert Bollinger, who had filed a lawsuit against Mullen Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ: MULN), the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer that acquired a majority stake in the company in 2022. As part of the settlement, Mullen increased its ownership of Bollinger Motors to 95%, further consolidating control of the Oak Park-based commercial EV maker.
Robert Bollinger, who founded the company in 2015, had sued Mullen Automotive over what sources familiar with the matter described as disagreements surrounding corporate governance and financial oversight following Mullen’s initial majority acquisition. The suit alleged that Bollinger was sidelined in key decision-making and that his vision for the company was being compromised. Though terms of the settlement were not disclosed, both parties agreed to resolve the matter without further litigation, allowing Bollinger Motors to exit receivership and return to normal operations under new leadership.
With the resolution, Mullen Automotive CEO and Chairman David Michery has assumed the same roles at Bollinger Motors, taking over the strategic direction of the electric truck company. During the receivership period, Bollinger Motors remained operational—continuing to sell and service its Bollinger B4 Class 4 electric trucks—while financial matters were overseen by a court-appointed receiver.
“Vehicle sales and customer service remained our top priorities throughout the receivership,” said Michery. “I commend the Bollinger team for their focus and resilience during a distracting chapter. With the settlement finalized and the lawsuit behind us, we’re entering a new era focused on expanding our footprint in the commercial EV space.”
Bollinger’s flagship vehicle, the B4 Chassis Cab, is a purpose-built, all-electric Class 4 commercial truck featuring a 158-kWh battery pack protected within a robust chassis designed for durability and fleet compatibility. The B4 is now available for order through Bollinger’s expanding national dealer network.
In addition to the B4, Bollinger is actively developing the B5, a Class 5 all-electric commercial truck, with an anticipated market launch in 2026.
“The commercial EV sector is full of opportunity,” said Jim Connelly, Chief Revenue Officer at Bollinger Motors. “Our message to customers and dealers has been clear—we’re open for business, laser-focused on service, and optimistic about our path forward.”

Mullen Automotive announced its commercial electric vehicles are now eligible for substantial financial incentives through Illinois’ ComEd Business & Public Sector EV Rebate Program. This initiative, running through 2025 with over $70 million in available rebates, offers up to $7,500 for Class 1 vehicles like the Mullen ONE cargo van and up to $30,000 for medium-duty EVs such as the Mullen THREE. When combined with federal tax credits, businesses and public organizations in Illinois could save up to $15,000 per vehicle.
