Under the theme “Driving the Future,” LG Display is poised to present what it calls the most advanced automotive displays to date—technologies designed to redefine the in-vehicle experience for the era of electric, autonomous, and software-defined vehicles.
Among the highlights is LG Display’s Stretchable display solution, a flexible screen that can expand by up to 50 percent while maintaining full RGB color and a resolution of 100 pixels per inch—matching the clarity of a conventional monitor. The company has integrated this innovation into a car’s center fascia, replacing the traditional configuration of a static screen and physical buttons with a single, transformable display surface. When the user touches the screen, it physically expands, revealing tactile buttons that protrude for intuitive, eyes-free interaction—a leap forward in both design and driver safety.
Also debuting is the company’s 57-inch Pillar-to-Pillar OLED display, the largest of its kind made from a single panel. Stretching from the driver’s seat to the front passenger’s seat, the display consolidates vehicle functions—like climate controls and driving data—while offering space for high-resolution entertainment content, such as movies or gaming, for passengers. This new format builds on LG Display’s earlier 40-inch version, the first ever commercialized of its type.
Another showpiece is LG Display’s 18-inch Slidable OLED display, which retracts into the ceiling when not in use. This ultra-thin screen descends only when summoned, providing passengers with a sleek, space-saving solution for immersive entertainment, bolstered by OLED’s rich contrast and vibrant color profile.
Both the Pillar-to-Pillar and Slidable OLED models have been engineered for the harsh conditions often encountered in automotive environments, remaining fully functional in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. The designs emphasize not only innovation but also the durability and reliability demanded by vehicle manufacturers.
To address growing concerns around driver distraction amid larger and more complex in-car displays, LG Display is also introducing Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM)—a first in the industry. SPM ensures that while front-seat passengers enjoy games or video content, that media remains invisible from the driver’s viewpoint, enhancing safety without compromising entertainment.
The company’s automotive portfolio is built on a strong foundation of technical milestones. Since becoming the first to commercialize Tandem OLED displays for vehicles in 2019, LG Display has expanded its leadership through platforms such as P-OLED, Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), and LTPS LCD. Each technology supports its overarching mission: to deliver premium visual experiences within vehicles while meeting the functional demands of the road.
“At SID Display Week 2025, we are proud to unveil technologies that go beyond performance—they create new possibilities for design and utility in vehicles,” said Keuk-sang Kwon, Head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display. “Our goal is to set a new benchmark for the automotive display industry and redefine the digital cockpit of tomorrow.”
LG Display’s showcase at this year’s event is not just a glimpse into what’s next—it’s a statement of intent from a company that continues to lead the charge toward a smarter, more immersive driving future.
