The 118th Chicago Auto Show is currently underway at McCormick Place, running from February 7 through February 16, 2026. As the nation’s longest-running automotive exposition, the event features over 700 vehicles from 30 manufacturers, serving as a critical consumer-facing platform as industry analysts forecast a 15.8 million unit sales environment for 2026. The show floor emphasizes side-by-side consumer comparison and hands-on engagement through four indoor test tracks and multiple outdoor ride-and-drive circuits.

Major Product Debuts and Propulsion Shifts

Stellantis headlines the 2026 event with the North American debut of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee (KM). The third-generation model utilizes a 1.6-liter turbocharged EP6 I4 hybrid powertrain integrated with dual electric motors, delivering 210 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque. The system achieves 37 MPG combined and a total driving range exceeding 500 miles. Engineering specifications include a mechanical all-wheel-drive connection with rear-axle disconnect and a 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity.

Toyota is featuring the all-new 2026 RAV4, built on the TNGA-K platform. The sixth-generation SUV introduces three styling tiers: Core, Rugged (Woodland), and Sport (GR SPORT). The RAV4 Hybrid utilizes the 5th-generation Toyota Hybrid System, generating 236 net combined horsepower. For the first time, FWD hybrid configurations are available, delivering 226 horsepower. The PHEV variant features a 6th-generation system targeting 50 miles of electric-only range and supports DC fast charging via a CCS port.

The Dodge Charger (LB) lineup is a central exhibit, showcasing both turbocharged SIXPACK internal combustion models and the all-electric Charger Daytona, which delivers 670 horsepower. Ram displays the 1500 SRT TRX, featuring a 777-hp supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, alongside the Ram 1500 REV range-extended electric pickup targeting 690 miles of total range.

Chevrolet’s Corvette CX concept provides a technical demonstration of a four-motor, all-wheel-drive electric sports car generating over 2,000 horsepower. Chrysler’s Pacifica Grizzly Peak concept showcases overlanding utility with a 2.75-inch suspension lift and integrated camping infrastructure. BMW’s display includes the U.S.-spec 2026 iX3 and a BMW Individual Speed Yellow M5 (G90) featuring carbon-fiber exterior components and Jet Black 951M wheels.

The Chicago Drives Electric indoor track remains a primary hub for electrification education. ComEd has announced 70 million dollars in EV rebates for 2026, including 35 million dollars for fleet transitions and 4 million dollars for residential hardware. Interactive vocational exhibits feature an International MV Electric bucket truck and Blue Bird electric school buses.

The Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) awarded the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Favorite Vehicle of the Year, citing its 2.7-inch wheelbase expansion. The new Chi-Town Alley exhibit celebrates regional car culture, featuring JDM imports, lowriders, and custom builds. Filmmaker Sung Kang is present for the opening weekend to showcase “Lola,” the Toyota Corolla AE86 hero car from the upcoming film Drifter.
