The Los Angeles Auto Show will once again turn the spotlight on electric and hybrid vehicles this fall, with the return of the Zero-Emission Vehicle Awards, known as The ZEVAS. Voting opens Oct. 1, organizers announced, inviting consumers around the world to help decide which cars stand out in an increasingly crowded clean-mobility market.
First introduced in 2021, The ZEVAS have become a signature feature of the annual auto show, billed as the industry’s “people’s choice” recognition for zero-emission models. Winners in seven categories — including sedans, trucks, SUVs, crossovers and hybrids — will be revealed during the show’s November run. A special “Most Anticipated” designation will honor concept and pre-production vehicles expected to influence future buyers.
“The ZEVAS give customers a powerful voice in recognizing the vehicles that truly deliver on their expectations for technology and performance,” said Terri Toennies, president of the Los Angeles Auto Show and AutoMobility LA. “Consumers are driving the shift to zero-emission transportation.”
Past winners have included the Rivian R1S, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model 3, Lucid Air and Ford F-150 Lightning — vehicles that have come to define the mainstreaming of electric mobility.
The 2025 show, which opens to the public on Nov. 21, will also feature a slate of other industry honors. The Hispanic Motor Press will announce its picks for the best vehicles for Hispanic families, while the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year jury is set to reveal its 2026 finalists. The Automotive Hall of Fame will present its Distinguished Service award, and a new Angel Custom Car Award, sponsored by No No Seat Covers, will invite attendees to cast onsite ballots for standout custom builds.
The event underscores the Auto Show’s century-old tradition of putting emerging technology on display. The show’s first exhibition in 1907 included two electric vehicles on the floor. This year’s iteration will highlight not just cars, but also creators, with a new program honoring influential automotive personalities to be detailed in the weeks ahead.
Voting for The ZEVAS is open at thezevas.com. Thousands of enthusiasts, influencers and prospective buyers are expected to participate, shaping which models will claim top honors when winners are announced later in the fal
