The most notable of these changes is the introduction of “King Crab,” a newly unveiled rear-steer mode that significantly advances the vehicle’s off-road agility. The system, delivered via over-the-air (OTA) update, is standard across the 2X and 3X trims of both the Pickup and SUV, and will also be retroactively offered to HUMMER EVs dating back to model year 2022. King Crab allows the rear wheels to turn more sharply than the front, improving maneuverability over uneven terrain and through tight spaces — a feat no other 4×4 currently matches.
This isn’t just software wizardry. It represents what GMC engineers call a “hardware-software convergence,” marrying electric propulsion and digital control to push the limits of what a truck can do off-road. “The refreshed HUMMER EV enhances an already amazing vehicle with new software innovations and forward-thinking design,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for HUMMER EV.
A Supertruck With Super Speed
Also new for 2026 is the Carbon Fiber Edition — a limited-run variant of the HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV that represents the fastest HUMMER ever built. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, the Carbon Fiber Edition is powered by a 24-module battery system and refined propulsion calibration.
Visual updates include an exclusive Magnus Gray Matte exterior, Velocity Ember interior accents, and carbon fiber design elements across the wheels, mirror caps, and skid plates. Only a limited number of these editions will be produced, reinforcing GMC’s strategy of pairing performance with exclusivity.
Power, Connectivity, and Practicality
The 2026 HUMMER EV lineup also introduces bi-directional charging capabilities, allowing the vehicle to power another EV or provide electricity to a home during outages. Enhancements to the Super Cruise driver-assist system include improved Google Maps integration and adaptive cruise control that adjusts to speed limits — along with hands-on functionality that transitions to hands-free when conditions allow.
Under the hood, the top-tier 3X Pickup continues to deliver staggering power figures: 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 pound-feet of torque, making it one of the most powerful vehicles in its class.
Further refinements to damper tuning promise improved ride quality, while a 13.4-inch infotainment screen with split-view and Google Built-In features — including access to streaming apps like Prime Video and Chrome — ensures the HUMMER EV remains as technologically advanced inside the cabin as it is under the chassis.
Design for the Next Chapter
Two new exterior colors, Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte, join the HUMMER EV palette, along with Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse interior themes. These additions continue GMC’s effort to marry rugged off-road capability with premium, personalized styling.
Production of the 2026 HUMMER EV will commence later this year at GM’s Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, with models arriving in showrooms soon after. Pricing and estimated range figures will be announced closer to launch.
As automakers race to redefine what the electric vehicle can be, GMC is betting that the future doesn’t just belong to sleek city crossovers — but also to bold, brash, and unapologetically capable supertrucks.
