At CES Audi announced that it has developed its own, much smaller LIDAR that is mounted on the Audi grille, eliminating the ugly “can” at the top look. The company showed just how intelligent and beautiful self-driving cars can be.
In a demonstration Audi used an app to “call” the car from a parking spot to the front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas.
Telenav reported that it has expanded its supplier agreement with Ford until 2017 and updated its Scout for iPhone app.
Most GPS navigation apps like Google Maps and Apple Maps don’t let you search while you’re already navigating. Telenav’s update of its Scout for iPhone app helps people find restaurants, coffee shops, or gas stations that are right along their route – and lets them easily add these as pit stops with the fewest taps on the iPhone.
Many of us have seen the problems that arise when someone drives the wrong direction in the lane. Often it is someone who goes down a one way street, the wrong way. Or it could be on a curved highway. In the case of Germany, there are 1,800 wrong-way drivers reported on the autobahn network, annually. This kind of mistake leads to serious accident with one in six deaths in these kinds of collisions.
