Certain 2017 and 2018 UConnect systems on RAM, Jeep, Dodge, Fiat and Chrysler vehicles are experiencing a reboot every 45-60 seconds due to an Over-the-Air Update. Dodge, Chrysler Fiat, RAM and Jeep owners took to Twitter(@UConnectcares) to complain that they can’t use their radio, navigation, rearview cameras and other infotainment features since Friday.
It is not clear how many vehicles the update affected and if the update was pushed out gradually over a few cars and then to a larger number. Apple typically pushes at updates in small test groups first and then pushes it out to cover larger areas in phases. Hopefully FCA stopped pushes out the update after complaints.
UConnect features that are failing include Bluetooth, smartphone connections, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Navigation apps and other controls.
Drivers are frustrate that they can’t use their radios and complain that even the SOS warning service doesn’t work to call for help.
FCA engineering teams are investigating the cause and working towards a resolution. The companies will news on its Twitter account when more information is available. In a Tweet the company apologized for the inconvenience.
Vehicles experiencing reboot problems include, RAM Dodge Durango, Dodge Charger, Jeep Grand Cherokee, RAM and other models.

Jeep owners state they have been waiting three days. While users have found their own fix. One user suggested:
“Open Navigation then quickly choose a destination. Then the power recycling stops.”
or”Trick while waiting for the update: quickly set nav to somewhere and then mute guidance. It worked for me.”
“What also worked for me is – after the car starts set POI ( gas station or whatever ) and hit go to start the trip on the nav, then unset the POI and the uconnect does not reboot until the car is shut off and you can use the nav, phone and etc.” Tweet an Jeep GC 2018 Altitude owner.
UConnect users have reported that the drivers has to accept an update by a dialog box. However, there’s no information about the update and what it does. While others stated that they never received a dialogue box.
Update 2/14/2018 @UConnectcares Tweeted today that they “have identified that the concern is related to SiriusXM Travel Link services.Travel Link services are in the process of being disabled on applicable UConnect systems. Timing regarding a permanent fix will be posted on @UConnectcares.
Update 2/16/2018 @UConnectcares Tweeted for “customers experiencing repeated system rebooting: Uconnect and SiriusXM have implemented a solution. Systems should function normally after receiving the satellite signal and an ignition cycle. Travel Link Service will be restored. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

An included trial of connected services also is available on properly equipped vehicles. These real-time services include a monthly vehicle health report, vehicle health alert, a smartphone app that enables owners to remotely lock, unlock or start their vehicle, locate their vehicle and more; 9-1-1 call and Assist Buttons on the rearview mirror that will connect vehicle owners to help at the push of a button.
2018 Jeep Rubicon is also impacted. CarPlay rarely works. So far, I’ve been to two Jeep dealerships to have it looked at. Technicians have not been trained to service CarPlay. The tech today actually said, “I don’t even know what CarPlay is”
